From a single passion project to a thriving ecosystem of community impact—Crescendo Carolinas Collective is built on resilience, vision, and unwavering commitment to the people of the Pee Dee region.
The foundation of everything. Crescendo Music Academy began with a simple belief: that every person, regardless of circumstance, deserves access to quality music education. Born from the vision of creating pathways for young musicians in underserved communities, the academy became more than a music school—it became a beacon of possibility.
The success of the academy revealed something profound: when you invest in people's talent and potential, you transform lives. But we also discovered that talent alone isn't enough. Our students faced barriers outside the classroom—housing instability, family crises, lack of opportunity—barriers that threatened to derail their growth.
This realization catalyzed the evolution of Crescendo. If music education could transform lives, what if we built an entire ecosystem designed to support every aspect of that transformation?
CleanCo was born to create dignified employment opportunities. By providing professional cleaning services, CleanCo generates sustainable revenue that funds community programming while offering meaningful work and career development to residents from underserved areas.
CareWorks came next as the essential support system. Recognizing that brilliant musicians and dedicated workers often face crises—food insecurity, housing instability, health emergencies—CareWorks provides wraparound support services, resource navigation, and benefits access to keep people stable and employed.

Founder, CEO, Interim President, Instructor, and Architect of Vision
Cleveland Dorsey is driven by something that can't be manufactured or mandated: genuine love for community. This isn't the love of an outside savior, but the love of someone who has walked the same difficult roads his neighbors face today, who understands from lived experience what it means to struggle, to fall, and to have nowhere to turn.
His journey has been marked by profound adversity. Like many residents of the Pee Dee region, Cleveland encountered systems that were supposed to help but often failed him. Navigating social services, accessing benefits, finding support in moments of crisis—these should have been pathways to stability, but instead he found bureaucratic mazes, broken promises, and invisible gaps where safety nets should have been. These painful experiences became the foundation of his understanding and compassion.
But Cleveland refused to let adversity define his future. Through sheer determination, resilience, and the grace of mentors who believed in him, he learned, grew, and transformed his struggles into wisdom. Each hardship became a lesson. Each trial became a reason to reach back and help others navigate the same terrain. Every time life tried to knock him off course, he found his way back—back to himself, back to his purpose, back to the steady beat that would become his life's crescendo.
Today, Cleveland wears many hats because the work demands it. As founder, he holds the vision. As CEO, he navigates the business model. As interim president, he guides organizational decisions. As instructor, he teaches music with the patience of someone who knows that every student facing him may be facing barriers they haven't named. And as the jack of all trades? He does whatever needs doing, whenever it needs doing, because that's what love looks like.
Cleveland understands that lasting change doesn't come from benevolence alone—it comes from building systems that work. That's why Crescendo isn't a charity that creates dependency; it's an ecosystem that creates opportunity, stability, and dignity. It's built by someone who knows that one person's perseverance can inspire a community's transformation, but only if that community has the tools, resources, and support to join the journey.
With your help, Cleveland's lifelong crescendo will become something far greater than any individual could achieve alone. Your partnership—whether through volunteering, donating, offering services, or simply believing in this work—extends the music into communities that have waited too long to hear their own potential. Together, we're building a legacy that will last for generations to come.
